Minoia

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

Minoia is a private journal. Your journal is yours: we don't show ads, we don't sell your data, and we don't read your entries. This policy explains what Minoia collects, why, and the choices you have.

Minoia is made by an independent developer based in Sydney, Australia ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@minoia.app.

1. Using Minoia without an account

You can use Minoia as a guest. In guest mode your journal, moods, habits, moments, and photos are stored only on your device. We do not receive them. If you delete the app, guest data is deleted with it.

2. What we collect if you create an account

3. Photos

Photos you add are saved on your device only. In this version of Minoia they are not uploaded to our servers. If you change or lose your phone, photos are not restored from an account.

4. What we don't do

5. How we use your information

Only to provide Minoia: to create and secure your account, sync and back up your journal, send account emails you request (such as password resets), respond to support requests, and keep the service safe from abuse.

6. Where your data is stored and who helps us

Account data and journal text are stored on secure cloud servers operated by our hosting providers on our behalf. Data may be processed outside Australia, including in the United States. Our providers may only use your data to provide their service to us. We use:

We may move to different hosting providers in the future. If we do, they will be bound by the same limits, and this policy will be updated.

We may disclose information if required by law.

7. Security

Your journal is linked to your account so only you can access it. Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted (HTTPS), and sign-in tokens are stored securely on your phone. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your data.

8. Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account). This permanently deletes your account, your synced journal, and your sign-in sessions from our servers. Copies in backups are removed within 30 days. You can also email us to ask for deletion.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the Australian Privacy Act, the GDPR, and US state laws), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to how it's used. Email hello@minoia.app and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local privacy regulator (in Australia, the OAIC).

10. Children

Minoia is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes

If we make important changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app.
